Axie Infinity Official Merchandise Ties Up With Grab Rewards In Southeast Asia | BitPinas

Web3 game pioneer Axie Infinity, developed by Sky Mavis, introduced its merch store, which will also be accessible through adds in e-wallet app Grab in Southeast Asia, featuring figurines, plushies, and apparel. According to the firm, the move signifies a key milestone in positioning Axie Infinity as a lifestyle brand, emphasizing community ownership.

With the objective of establishing Axie Infinity as a lifestyle brand, Sky Mavis launched its merch store, which allows the Axie Infinity brand to come to life through real-life merchandise.

According to the press release, Sky Mavis’ IP strategy includes elevated experiences for Axie Infinity’s Mystic holders, such as access to token-gated figurines that include an exclusive land item NFT, as well as updated licensing guidelines that enable Mystic holders to create, sell, and receive 100% of the profit made from merchandise featuring their own Axies.

In addition, to make merchandise accessible to all players, including those in countries with stringent import regulations, Sky Mavis is offering complimentary downloadable designs that can be printed locally.

“The best movements have the best merch. We’re delighted to launch the merch store for our community and can’t wait to see how it supercharges onboarding and the sense of belonging our community members feel in Lunacia,” Jeff Zirlin, Sky Mavis Growth Lead, and Co-Founder, said in a statement.

Consequently, Sky Mavis highlighted that Axie Infinity is evolving into a lifestyle brand, and the Axie community will play a big role in this. 

To encourage ownership and reward creators, Sky Mavis is giving community members the ability to create and sell their own unique Axie Infinity merchandise. Sky Mavis has eliminated all commercial restrictions for Mystic and Origin Axie holders, which means that holders can now create, sell, and keep 100% of the revenue from merchandise featuring their own Axies.

Accordingly,  Sky Mavis is also teaming up with GrabAds, the advertising segment of Grab, to boost the integration of Web3 in Southeast Asia. The objective is to provide users with Grab points as rewards when they explore the Axie Infinity Merch Store through ads on the Grab app.

This initiative will commence in the Philippines and subsequently expand to Vietnam and Indonesia, thereby extending the reach and impact of Axie Infinity across its current key markets.

“We believe by building a strong and accessible IP, we can introduce more people to Axie Infinity and onboard a new generation to Web3. Like HelloKitty and Pokémon, our Axies have captured the hearts of millions of gamers and have the potential to be a cultural touchpoint in the physical world,” shared Trung Nguyen, Sky Mavis CEO.

It was launched on November 24th at 6:00 am PST; the first 5,000 purchasers using a Ronin Wallet received one Axie and had a chance to claim one of three exclusive Mystic Axies.

The initial collection to be launched is called >Code: Axie_.

As per the media release, the earliest members of Sky Mavis’ digital nation in 2018 minted the first-ever Axies using only code— there was no visual art associated with the creation. 

The developers noted that the  limited edition >code:axie_ collection pays tribute to these inaugural steps in Axie history. The >Code: Axie_ Collection is a one-time limited edition drop, available for two weeks only.

“We started with Code Axie as it reflects Axie’s birth: a novel and reality-warping combination of code and art,” Zirlin added.

During the YGG Web3 Games Summit, Zirlin announced the revival of Axie Infinity Classic, a popular version of the game in the Philippines. He highlighted the Filipino Axie community’s dedication, noting that despite no rewards, around 10,000 players continued engagement. 

Axie Infinity Classic, a significant part of the game’s history, now introduces updates like ‘Cursed Coliseum’ and a new competitive mode, ‘The Grand Tournament,’ featuring a chance to win a Mystic Axie. The game’s strategic depth is enhanced with in-game curses and the integration of Axie Experience Points (AXP), allowing players to level up and compete for a prize pool.
