The University of Wisconsin will hire Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell as head coach on Sunday according to Tom Oates.
Fickell went to Ohio State and was the interim coach there in 2011 where he posted a 6-7 record. He took the head coaching job at Cincinnati in 2017 and has posted a 57-18 record during his tenure.
His most notable feat resulted in Cincinnati going to the College Football Playoff last season. They were the first group of five school to do be selected by the College Football Playoff Committee for the event.
He has plenty of experience in the midwest as a head coach and assistant during his time at Cincinnati, Akron and Ohio State, which helps the fit at the program.
Wisconsin went 6-6 this season and Fickell will take over for Jim Leonhard, the interim coach that took over for Paul Chryst.
