Wesley Matthews Signs Deal with Hawks

Date:

Wesley Matthews has signed a new contract with his eighth team since entering the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks are signing the 36-year-old shooting guard to a one-year contract for a yet-unknown amount of money.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Friday.

Matthews joined the NBA as an undrafted free agent back in 2009, when he failed to be drafted out of Marquette. He’s played with the Jazz, Blazers, Mavericks, Knicks, Pacers, Bucks (twice) and Lakers. Now he becomes a Hawk.

Last season, primarily playing as a combo guard/forward, Matthews collected 3.4 points per game, 0.7 assists per game and 2.2 rebounds per game on an average of 15.8 minutes. He hasn’t averaged double-digit points per game since 2018-2019, when he played for three teams.

Stay tuned for more breaking NBA content, including offseason moves, contract updates and more news from every team.
