Bitskwela is creating “crypto education in all local languages, for all Filipinos.” Headed by Jiro Reyes, it is a startup that aims to educate Filipinos in all things crypto and blockchain through structured learning courses and modules. “In all local languages” means just as it is – the courses are not just in English and Tagalog, but Bitskwela has guides and courses available in Cebuano and Ilocano as well. We think no one has done this before.

Likha is creating a marketplace for NFT enthusiasts. The artists, users, and brands, will be able to mint, market, and manage their NFTs. You can visit the public beta version of their marketplace. The team encourages visitors to give feedback so they continuously improve the marketplace.

MetaverseGo
MetaverseGo is a web3 application that offers easy access to play-to-earn (P2E) games, blockchain-related guilds, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and decentralized applications (Dapps). The app allows users to own assets, connect with industry players and use their earnings across multiple payment platforms.
Users are required to enter either their mobile number or email to be able to login to the web app but for now, the users need to qualify for the beta testing of the app by ranking up their leaderboard by referring more people using the referral link provided after signing up.

Unlockd is the decentralized protocol that unlocks democratized NFT liquidity and utility through cross-chain, permissionless, instant, NFT-backed loans.
If you are a virtual land owner, for example, and you need crypto, you can borrow from Unlockd using your land as collateral, allowing you to not part with your NFT (land), which would be the case if you just decide to sell it instead of putting it in their platform.

Web3 Philippines
Web3 Philippines is an initiative of members of Polygon Guild Manila to help Filipinos to build in the web3 space. They want to expand to other blockchain networks to assist more Filipinos to become developers and web3 project creators.
As of Web3 Philippines’ Discord server, they are aiming to have meetups in Manila, online workshops and Ask Me Anything events (AMAs), have a community blog, Web3 contest and challenge, web3 Hackathons and they are planning to have their own decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) within the third quarter of the year.

Closing Thoughts
The companies listed in the article have a common mission: to onboard more Filipinos into web3. Education is essential not just because of the high NFT usage in the country, but because it is the key thing that will sustain the momentum of crypto in the Philippines.
But let it not be limited to crypto and NFT usage, the initiatives above could be that first step to create not just users but builders in the local scene as well.
