Sky Mavis, the developer of the web3 game Axie Infinity, announced that Pixels will be migrating to Ronin. The move will allow the game to utilize the resources of the game developer. 

Pixels Migrating to Ronin

In a statement, Sky Mavis revealed that by moving to Ronin, Pixels will be able to benefit from lower gas fees, go-to-market and advisory support from the developer’s team members, and the use of Mavis Hub—Ronin’s distribution platform for web3 games.

Pixels is an open-world MMORPG that allows players to gather resources, advance skills, build relationships, and quest in a captivating, open-ended world of farming and exploration.

It is the number one web3 game on Polygon by Unique Active Wallets, with over 1.5 million monthly on-chain transactions, 100k+ monthly active wallets, and 5,000 daily active users, the press release stated.

What is Ronin Blockchain?

Ronin, a blockchain specifically developed for gaming, is the only blockchain that has been proven to scale a single game to accommodate millions of daily active users, Sky Mavis stated.

In March, the company opened its Ronin platform to leading game studios to develop successful Web3 games. Directive Games, Tribes, Bali Games, Bowled.io, SkyVu, and Zillion Whales were the first game studios to announce plans to build on Ronin.

In the same month, the Ronin wallet, Sky Mavis’ own software wallet , was updated in March to include a number of enhancements, such as a Social Login feature, integration of Threshold Key Management, convenient access to Axie Accessories within the Collectibles tab, and other improvements aimed at enhancing the overall user experience.

Recent Developments from Sky Mavis

In July, Sky Mavis collaborated with the Ethereum-based NFT project CyberKongz to introduce the Genkai collection to Ronin’s NFT marketplace. In celebration of this partnership, Mystic Axie holders received one Genkai NFT for each Mystic Axie they own. The Genkai collection, inspired by anime art, will consist of 20,000 NFTs, with 4,000 minted on Ronin and 16,000 on the Ethereum Mainnet.

In May, Sky Mavis launched Mavis Market, a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace that allows users to buy, sell, and showcase NFTs, powered by its proprietary blockchain, Ronin. At the same time, the developer also made Axie Infinity: Origins available on the Apple App Store for iOS users in select Latin American and Asian countries.

In late 2022, the developer launched the alpha build of Axie Infinity: Homeland for all owners of its Land NFTs.
