Web 3 Privacy Service, ShareRing, Boost User Data Sovereignty

Date:

ShareRing, a decentralized platform aiming to promote privacy and sovereignty of data, launched its new website. The new reimagined website provides users with frictionless access to the platform allowing them to create digital identities for Web 3.0, enhancing their privacy and giving them full control over their data. According to a team statement, the new branding and website reflect ShareRing’s goals to build a Web3 ecosystem based on trust, where digital identities provide frictionless access to services and goods in a verifiable manner.

In the Web 2.0 ecosystem, large companies (big data) have had a trend to host more and more personal data about their users on their servers with a promise to offer “better services”. However, most of this personal information has been misused or sold to third parties without the users’ permission. Notwithstanding, users need to give out their personal information to every new company they sign up with.

“As a user, you still need to give all of your personal information to a new company every time you sign up with them,” said Tim Bos, CEO of ShareRing. “And far too often, there’s a hacker that gains access to, and leaks (or sells) this information.”

ShareRing aims to solve these data privacy issues crippling the Web2 ecosystem, giving its users autonomy on their personal data. With ShareRing, users can create their verifiable digital identity (ShareRing ID), store their credentials and assets inside the ShareRing Vault, and manage their digital footprint; all of this is available inside the ShareRing app.

The new website will offer users full ownership and control over their digital identities and self-sovereign data, adding to a frictionless approach, whereby users do not need to give their personal information to every company they sign up with. Additionally, the website offers information on ShareRing’s product ecosystem and direct links to download their mobile app on iOS or Android App Stores. Lastly, the website will launch a knowledge hub on blockchain and cryptocurrencies and a dedicated news blog for its users.

The ShareRing products and services pillars

Following the launch of the ShareRing website, the platform’s products and services will be housed under three pillars: Access Services, Digital Lifestyle and Foundational Products.

The ‘Access’ pillar utilizes users’ ShareRing ID and Vault to grant a user access to services, for example, eKYC with financial institutions or accessing events with NFTs. The ShareRing team is also exploring new features including the ShareRing Acces: Events (like ticketing) and Website logins. The ‘Digital Lifestyle’ pillar offers novel and innovative developments that utilize one’s ShareRing ID and Vault including NFT Space. The “Foundational” features cover the technology underlying ShareRing including ShareRing app, staking, swapping, document issuance, ShareLedger blockchain, facial recognition, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and AI learning.

In the near future, ShareRing plans to add zero-knowledge proofs to further boost the privacy of users’ data and their merchant services and stores.
