Vancouver Titans Sign DPS Kamden “Sugarfree” Hijada

Date:

Don’t look now, but the Vancouver Titans just may have made their biggest signing since the “Runaway” days. On Tuesday December 27, the Vancouver Titans announced their signing of DPS Kamden “Sugarfree” Hijada. Sugarfree has been in the Overwatch scene since 2018, but has finally become eligible to play later this month. .

In a crowded free agency pool, the Vancouver Titans found a way to steal away a premier talent like Sugarfree. The Titans have failed to eclipse five wins since 2020, where they managed to find six. Titans fans have been hoping for a move that would finally turn this team into a competitor. There have been bits and pieces that have joined the roster which appeared to help the cause, however nothing has given long-lasting success.

Sugarfree could very well be the key to the Vancouver puzzle. The young player has played on several different Contenders rosters, with his most notable performances being with ATL Academy. On the Atlanta Reign’s academy team, Sugarfree lead the roster to a first place finish in North American Contenders, and a second place finish in the Contenders Gauntlet.

The major story line to follow with this signing is the absence of Sugarfree from competitive Overwatch from the past year. In fact Sugarfree had stepped away from Overwatch to pursue a potential career in VALORANT. However with the introduction of Overwatch 2, it appeared that Sugarfree found himself grinding the ranked ladder once again.

Sugarfree joins Luka “Aspire” Rolovic as the Vancouver DPS members.
