Ukraine Starts Accepting DOT After Raising $20M In BTC, ETH

Ukraine starts accepting DOT after raising $20 million in BTC, ETH as the government starts accepting donations as a response to continue fighting the war with Russia so let’s read more today in our latest altcoin news.

The Ukrainian government announced that it starts accepting donations in Polkadot in addition to the donations that it has already received BTC, USDT, and ETH. Ukraine starts accepting many donations since last week when Russia attacked Ukraine. The official Twitter account of the government posted:

“The people of Ukraine are grateful for the support and donations from the global crypto community as we protect our freedom. We are now accepting Polkadot donations too.”

Polkadot founder Gavin Wood replied to the initial plea for donations of the governemnt saying he will donate $5 million if the Ukrainian government started accepting Polkadot. At the time, Wood faced strogn criticism but didn’t donate funds in crypto the government was accepting at that time. Since Russia launched an attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, millions of dollars worth of crypto were donated to the Ukrainian government and NGOs supporting the defense of the country. According to the figures from Elliptic, Ukraine’s crypto crowdfunding effort passed $20 million a day ago:

“The Ukrainian government, and NGOs providing support to the military, have raised $20 million through thousands of cryptocurrency donations since the start of the donation.”

So far, the donations composed mostly BTC and ETH sent to the government’s BTC and ETH addresses that recieved $8 million in BTC and $7 million in ETH. Other sources of crypto income were established as well.  The UkraineDAO is a decentralized autonomous organization which is created to raise funds for Ukraine and was created by Nadya Tolokonnikova who is the founder of the conceptual protest art group Pussy Riot alongside Trippy Labs and PleaserDAO. Another fundraiser dubbed Support Ukrainian Sovereignty claims to have raised $500,000 up to date while the NGO Come Back Alive which was suspended by Patreon for funding military activity and raised a few million dollars.

As recently reported, Additional sources of donated income include a fundraiser dubbed Support Ukrainian Sovereignty which claims to have raised $280,000 to date, and according to Elliptic, the group recieved funds from a separate ETH token proejct dubbed Help Ukraine.
