This New VR Fighting Game Looks Almost Too Brutal – VRScout

Date:

Could this be the most violent hand-to-hand combat game of all time?

Monologic Games, the developer behind the upbeat VR platforming game, Ven VR Adventure, this month revealed its latest game coming to headsets, VRSO: Bare Knuckle Fighting.

The first in a series of planned VR sports simulators from the Virtual Reality Sports Organization (VRSO), this 1v1 fighting game tasks you with defeating opponents using your bare fists across a series of seedy back alley locations, all of which captured in stunning detail using photogrammetry technology.

According to an official release, the animations were captured using motion capture technology in cooperation with professional fighters. This includes a variety of offensive and defensive movements, from attacking and blocking to dodging, pivoting, fading, and even distracting.

VRSO: Bare Knuckle Fighting will feature two game modes when it arrives on VR headsets later this year:

  • Single-player – Compete against 16 artificial intelligence (AI) opponents in a bloody tournament-style competition. Each competitor features their own unique fighting style and skills to overcome. There’s even an original backstory designed to suck you into the action as well as a training mode where you can configure your opponent’s speed, reflex, and stamina for the ultimate training.
  • Multiplayer – Take your skills online and battle real players in order to gain experience and earn currency which you can spend on unique cosmetics to stand out from the pack. Players compete against others based on their rank, promising a fair and balanced multiplayer experience.

Based on the images provided, it appears as though we can expect a much more savage hand-to-hand combat experience than that provided by existing VR fighting games like Thrill of the Fight, Creed: Rise to Glory, or Drunken Bar Fight. The realistic graphics also appear to add an additional sense of utter brutality to the experience.

VRSO: Bare Knuckle Fighting is scheduled to launch sometime later this year on Meta Quest, PC VR, and PlayStation VR2 headsets. For more information visit the game’s official Discord. Here you can also signup for a chance to play the beta.
