The Premier League Heats Up

Date:

This Premier League Title race could be the first in 10 years where three teams finish within 5 points of each other. Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal will fight tooth and nail to secure English Football’s biggest prize. Who will come out on top?

Liverpool

Liverpool are in first, with 60 points. They also find themselves with a laundry list of injuries at the time of writing. Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Stefan Bajcetic, Alisson Becker, Ben Doak, Wataru Endo, Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Mohamed Salah are all out for Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest.

Furthermore, they will play six matches in March, while City will play five and Arsenal will play four. In recent matches, they have handled the pressure of this season well, as they are on a five-game winning streak, scoring 15 goals in these games.

Manchester City

City are in second, with 59 points. They are remarkably healthy at the time of writing, but Jack Grealish will not return on Sunday against Manchester United. City’s only other injury is that of Joško Gvardiol, who is also not expected to return against United.

The Citizens are in excellent form, in the middle of a 17-game unbeaten run. They also have history on their side, having won five of the last six titles. They will be led by the Premier League’s top scorer, Erling Halaand, with 17 goals in 21 appearances.

Arsenal

Arsenal are in third, with 58 points. Furthermore, they are relatively healthy, with Jurrien Timber being the only player who is out long-term. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Thomas Partey are all expected to return this month.

The Gunners have won seven games in a row, scoring 26 goals in those games. Bukayo Saka has been crucial for them this season, leading the team in goal contributions with 13 goals and six assists in 25 games.

Key Games

This March, the last two meetings between these three sides will take place, being the most important games in the Premier League title race. Liverpool and City will clash at Anfield on March 10, at 5:45 a.m. EST, and on March 31 at 5:30 a.m. City and Arsenal but heads at the Etihad.
