The Last of Us is an award winning game. With an exceptional story followed up by strong gameplay, the game took the world by storm many years ago. Much of The Last of Us has two in game characters working hand-to-hand, therefore multiplayer seems like a no brainer decision. But despite having been announced some time ago, The Last of Us multiplayer has been lacking news.

Many assumed The Last of Us multiplayer was just scrapped — but this is not the case. According to the game director of The Last of Us, he is “still working on that game.” Though ambiguous in nature, many speculate he is discussing The Last of Us.
For more context regarding this Twitter post, Vinit Agarwal actually stated:
My love for The Last of Us & @Naughty_Dog‘s MP modes inspired me to join the studio. Co-directing the first standalone online experience, one of our biggest efforts ever, is a dream.”
In this case, MP stands for Multiplayer. In other words, he publicly revealed that he’s working on The Last of Us multiplayer well over a year ago.
There’s still no The Last of Us multiplayer release date. But it’s great news to see the developers are still working on it. Of course, this is a monumental task — and there’s been very little news outside of the Twitter posts embedded here. But considering Vinit Agarwal’s job position is literally “Game Director NAughty Dog on The Last of Us online project,” it’s clear the project hasn’t been scrapped.
And with Agarwal confirming he’s still working on the project, unless something goes horrendously wrong, players should expect The Last of Us Multiplayer to release on the future.
