Surprise! Boston Uprising Release Striker – Again

Date:

Well well well, it seems like it’s time for the semi-annual Boston Uprising/Striker announcement. I wouldn’t be surprised if other Uprising fans treat this as a holiday at this point because I’m expected this to happen again next year as well. It was the most expected roster move of the season, and no one is truly shocked to see this headline come through their Twitter feed – that is assuming you can even still use your Twitter feed.

On Monday July 3, the Boston Uprising made the tough decision to release on-again off-again DPS player Nam-joo “Striker” Kwon. Striker joined the squad late last year at the very beginning of the offseason as a part of a brand new super team constructed by Aaron “Pre” Heckman. This is Striker’s unprecedented third stint in Boston blue, and his third time leaving the team. He stuck around a bit longer than his previous tenure but still finds himself in free agency all the same.

Striker spent the majority of his time riding the bench this year as fellow DPS players Guiwoon “Decay” Jang and Ji-hyeok “Birdring” Kim won the starting spot early on in the season. Striker did make an appearance during the Pro-Am Tournament prior to the regular season, but has since been sidelined.

Typically it would be a sad moment for Uprising fans to lose such a talent like Striker. However this release is almost comical at this point. Truly a lesson in insanity as both Boston and Striker continue to try and make this connection work when there is truly just nothing here for either party.

As is tradition, OWL fans will patiently await the news from the San Francisco Shock camp that they have picked up Striker – just as they have the two times prior. Striker may still have the ability to carry has he once did, but a team will need to take a risk on a player that has seen little to no play time so far this season.
