Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC has appointed Lawrence Wong as its Deputy Chairman. Wong, who is also Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, will take up the new role on 1 October 2023.

In his new role, Wong will assist the Chairman in leading the board in overseeing GIC’s long-term asset allocation and portfolio performance.
Wong has been a GIC Director and Chairman of the Investment Strategies Committee since November 2018 and July 2023 respectively.
He is currently the Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Chairman of Singapore Economic Development Board’s International Advisory Council.
Wong is also a member of the Future Economy Council, the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council and the National Research Foundation Board.
