SemanticMD – Deep Learning platform For Medical Image Analysis

Date:

SemanticMD is a solution that is especially useful for those who need medical data solutions without needing a lot of technical skills. There are a variety of ways where this kind of medical technology can be useful.

Storage

The SemanticMD Cloud Storage service makes it easier to store medical images and videos. While some organizations may try using more generic options for medical storage, it really does tend to help when you used a service specialized for the purpose. The medical storage options here will help if you need to store something like data related to your research, or images related to some health service or even machine data or images.

Plus, you have the option of integrating with an assortment of other cloud data storage options as well as other ways of storing data. The options listed on the site include the Amazon S3 option, dcm4che, and others. You can watch a demo right on the site to see how it all works with visual search and other approaches.

It’s also possible to use this system in order to locate data and connect them together in other important ways.

Automation

Other options under the SemanticMD umbrella include the SemanticMD NLP option which gives you the ability to add automation to a medical data collection. One of the ways this works is by adding automatic processes for annotating reports such as the ones in radiology or clinical options. This way, you can take advantage of machine learning in order to save some time.

The NLP tool here lets you upload reports, and one thing that’s particularly useful about it is that it can handle more than just the standard DOC formats. You can upload in PDF and PNG formats as well, for example. Plus, the tool can automatically read the text even if it’s not in a text format such as the image formats like PNG. It can copy out the text and organize everything into logical headings and sections without you needing to do anything extra.

Redaction

Another common process that you might need to accomplish during the course of your company’s operations includes making sure that you don’t expose sensitive information from patients.  The SemanitcMD Redact option helps with this. You can upload images like SVS or Dicom, and then set the tools to go through the images and automatically identify areas that might be sensitive. At this point, you can also set the tool to automatically add in a black bar to cover up anything that you might want to avoid showing in the data.

This could be parts of the faces of patients for example, such as their eyes. That way they can’t be identified, which often goes against various regulations such as HIPAA. It could also be phone numbers, addresses, names, or various other bits of information that you don’t want to get out. This way, you don’t have to go through everything yourself, which can be tedious and time-consuming.

Analysis

Other options you get with SemanticMD include cloud computing which uses APIs that can handle deep learning. This allows you to cut back on tasks like rewriting code related to medical imaging. It allows you to handle all of this without having to worry about writing code at all. This makes it so that even those without a lot of experience can handle getting the analysis of images that they need without having to take expensive courses in order to figure it all out.
