The popular Russian rapper partnered with the Open Network TON to become an investor and ambassador for the blockchain project. As per the recent reports, the rapper released a new song where he sang about the TON project and the Toncoin cryptocurrency. In the song, the hip-hop star mentioned that he sold all of his cue balls and bought TON he also revealed that he purchased about $130 million worth of cryptocurrency. The track garnered thousands of streams in a few hours following the release on Spotify attracting the attention of a few local news outlets.
Morgenstern spoke about the crypto space as well but also metaverse, NFTs, and the TON project which he mentioned to his 7.9 million followers on Instagram and Telegram. The latter has more than 850,000 subscribers and he even said that he sees his future in the crypto space. The rapper launched a paid subscription on the Telegram channel that only accepts toncoin that was created with the help of the Ton Official partner Donate.

The Ton project has been known as the Telegram Open Network and it was originally developed by the Telegram team with the support from the founder and cloud-based messaging service, Pavel Durov. However, in May 2020, the project was closed down and Telegram withdrew from the litigation with the US SEC. A few independent DLT development teams continued to work on the project and soon the blockchain returned to life as Toncoin operating on Telegram. Upon getting the wind of the new project, Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov expressed his support for the development and the project:
“When Telegram said goodbye to TON last year, I expressed the hope that future generations of developers would one day carry on with our vision of a mass-market blockchain platform.
So I was inspired to see the champions of Telegram’s coding contests continue developing the open TON project, which they rebranded to Toncoin… I wish its team the same success. Coupled with the right go-to-market strategy, they have all they need to build something epic.”
