The New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick have agreed to part ways according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Mike Reiss.
Robert Kraft and Belichick will have a press conference at noon EDT today to officially announce the news.
Belichick spent 24 years with the New England Patriots. He posted a record 266-121 and won six Super Bowls along the way. The Patriots have decided to go in a new direction after the team had three losing seasons out of their last four.
During his NFL head coaching career, Belichick was also the head coach of the Cleveland Browns where he spent four seasons and went 36-44.
Before becoming a head coach, Belichick was an assistant around the league, most notably with the Jets, Patriots and Giants. He was the defensive coordinator for the Giants as they won two Super Bowls.
The Patriots will be in the market for a new head coach for the first time in the 21st century.
