While the 2023 NFL Draft is still far off in the distance, players who will be drafted early are on the field now. Each week presents unique matchups for draft prospects and this week is no different. Here are NFL Draft prospects to watch in college football week 6.
Texas has started off the season undefeated through five games. Their high-powered offense has been able to get the job done, which includes their passing attack. Xavier Worthy has played well this season. So far he has 26 receptions for 345 yards and three touchdowns on the year.
In week 6, Texas will match up with the Oklahoma Sooners. It will likely be a shootout of a game that will require a good offensive output. Worthy can help the offense by showcasing his speed and ability to separate. He is currently projected to be a first-round draft pick, but could improve his stock down the stretch.
2. Devin Leary, QB, Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky is 5-0 and picked up a good win against Florida in week 5. Their offense has been inconsistent but has shown some great flashes this season. They have a solid quarterback in Devin Leary. He has passed for 1,129 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions on 57.7 percent completion.
Leary has been trying to find the form he had in 2021, when he had his best season for NC State. He’ll need to find that form this week as the Wildcats play Georgia. Leary has shown good accuracy and decision-making in the past and both will need to be on display for Leary to help pull off an upset. He could be a mid-round pick, but a good performance this week could change things for the better.
3. Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia is undefeated, but the Bulldogs have not played a tough schedule. Their offense is still finding their footing with a new quarterback at the helm. Brock Bowers, the best tight end in the country, is helping the offense greatly. He has 30 catches for 413 yards and three touchdowns this season. Bowers also has a rushing touchdown.
The Bulldogs will have a big test against a ranked Kentucky team in week 6. Bowers will have to keep the offense moving with his athleticism and versatility. He can be a security blanket for Georgia and get them through hard times. He will be the first tight end selected, but will be fun to watch in this matchup.
Missouri has surprised people with their undefeated record this season. Their defense has played well and Abrams-Draine deserves some credit. In the 2022 season, he has 23 total tackles, three interceptions and six passes defended.
In week 6, Missouri will take on LSU, who has a high-powered offense. Abrams-Draine will be matched up against some good wide receivers, including Malik Nabers. Abrams-Draine can show his coverage ability and ball skills to help Missouri possibly get a win. He will likely be selected in the first few rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.
5. Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona Wildcats
Arizona has had a solid start to the season with a 3-2 record. Their offense has been decent, with some good outings on the year. Their offensive line has played well and that is bolstered by tackle Jordan Morgan.
In week 6, the Wildcats will play USC. They will need a great offensive output to keep up with the Trojans, which means Morgan will have to protect the quarterback and clear running lanes for his running backs. He has the potential to be a first-round pick if he finishes the season well.
