NFL Draft Prospects in the 2023 Pinstripe Bowl

Date:

The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2023 Pinstripe Bowl.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights Draft Prospects

Max Melton, CB

Melton joined Rutgers in 2020 and has been an impact player ever since. In his career, he has 111 total tackles, eight interceptions and 22 passes defended. This season, he has racked up 32 total tackles, six passes defended and three interceptions.

At 6-foot and 190 pounds, Melton will need to add strength to his frame to provide more physical coverage. He has shown good ball skills and athleticism throughout his career. There is a chance he opts out of this bowl game.

Projected Draft Range: 3rd Round Pick-5th Round Pick

Tyreem Powell, LB

Powell signed with Rutgers in 2020 and has produced over the last two seasons. In his career, he has tallied 141 total tackles, eight tackles for loss and five sacks. This season, he has 53 total tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks.

He has interesting measurables at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds. That is great for an NFL linebacker. His production leaves a lot to be desired, but he may be able to develop in the NFL. He has eligibility and could return to school to improve his stock.

Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent

Other Draft Prospects: EDGE Aaron Lewis (UFA), OT Willie Taylor (UFA), WR Taj Harris (UFA), CB Kessawn Abraham (UFA)

Miami Hurricanes Draft Prospects

Kam Kinchens, S

Kinchens joined Miami in 2021 and cracked the starting lineup by the end of the season. In his career, he has 162 total tackles, 15 passes defended and 11 interceptions. This season, he has registered 59 total tackles, five passes defended and five interceptions.

At 6-foot and 205 pounds, Kinchens has ok size for an NFL safety. Earlier this season, he had a serious head or neck injury. He was able to come back and play, which is important, but will need to clear medical checks by NFL doctors. Kinchens has shown good ball skills, but does give up some big plays. He may end up opting out of this bowl game.

Projected Draft Range: 1st Round Pick-2nd Round Pick

Leonard Taylor, DL

Taylor signed with Miami in 2021 and has been a star for the Hurricanes. He has 64 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and six sacks in his career. This season, he has tallied 19 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

He has decent size at 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, but will likely fit best as a 4-3 defensive tackle. Taylor has good athletic ability and can attack gaps to be disruptive. He still has eligibility remaining, but Taylor has already built his stock up well.

Projected Draft Range: 1st Round Pick-2nd Round Pick
