Johnston is among 80 leaders credited for their roles in some of the Triad region’s most transformative economic and community development projects in the last 18 months. The group was honored in the business publication and at an Oct. 27 reception at Wake Forest Biotech Place in Winston-Salem.

Johnston was included in the sixth annual Power Players list for organizing Triad BioNight, a June 23 celebration of the region’s life sciences community, featuring the conclusion of the NC BIONEER Venture Challenge, a business pitch competition, and an awards dinner honoring life sciences leaders and innovators. At that event Johnston received the Biotechnology Community Leadership Award, one of five excellence awards given at Triad BioNight, attended by about 400 people in High Point.

The Power Players recognition “represents the enormous efforts of our regional leadership and volunteers who partnered and supported our NCBiotech initiatives — Triad BioNight and NC BIONEER,” Johnston said. “In my eyes this is a collective achievement recognition with statewide impact, and I’m so honored and humbled to be acknowledged for my role.”

Johnston has led the Biotech Center’s Piedmont Triad Office for the last 12 years, supporting the region’s biosciences activities and companies through partnerships, collaboration and economic development.
