After being accused by his attorneys of trying to avoid them. Former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal has been served with papers in a lawsuit over his participation in advertising FTX.  O’Neal was listed as a defendant in a lawsuit that was filed in federal district court in Florida in November. He was among other high-profile endorsers like Tom Brady and Larry David. It claims that the famous people “actively participated” in FTX’s unregistered securities offer and sale.

Moskowitz Law Firm, which is representing investor Edwin Garrison in the class action, said earlier this month that they had attempted many times over the last few months to personally serve O’Neal with papers, but had been unable.

Lawsuit May Proceed Now

For the most part, the biggest guy is trying to avoid our litigation, said attorney Adam Moskowitz. In tweets sent to O’Neal last week. The legal firm claimed it had spent the week waiting outside the TNT studios in Atlanta to hand-deliver the complaint but had been blocked by security.

The law firm stated:

“You have been running from us for months & all other FTX celebrities have agreed to receive their complaints.”

On Sunday night, an update said that O’Neal had been served outside his home and that the event had been captured on his own security cameras. The case may now go forward once documents have been served.

In an advertisement, O’Neal said that he was “all in” on the deal. However, after the collapse of the exchange, he told CNBC that he doesn’t understand cryptocurrency and would thus likely shun it. O’Neal was one of several famous people, from athletes like Steph Curry and Naomi Osaka to businesspeople like Kevin O’Leary, who were all paid to promote the product.
