My First 100 Days as a Crypto Novice

Date:

A personal journey as a rookie investor dipping a toe into the stormy seas of the cryptocurrency ocean

I have an admission to make. I’m a recovering smoker.

Yes. After years of a stop-start cycle, I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been a non-smoker for over 100 days. My longest tobacco-free stretch in a decade.

I also have another admission to make. I’m a novice crypto investor.

So why am I telling you this, and what is the connection?

Simple, both myself and my wife quit smoking in February, saving an incredible $600 a month.

Crazy, huh?

So what to do with the extra cash?

Gamble it? … Maybe not, well not quite.

Let me rephrase that — invest it — because we’re not replacing one addiction with another, rather redirecting our previously squandered cash on something that may (or may not) be worth something in time.

I look at it like this — we had 2 options:

  • Option A — Smoke $600 a month that will result in a) lung cancer or b) no lung cancer, both reduce life expectancy.
  • Option B — Buy $600 a month of cryptocurrency that will result in either a) losses or b) earnings.

Now Option A guarantees that $7,200 a year will be lost forever, with zero benefits (cancer is of no benefit).

Whereas Option B, while not guaranteed, is an entirely new proposition, and according to my research has zero carcinogenic ingredients.

Okay, the latter may induce stress if your financial security is dependent on it, whereas quitting smoking reduces stress. So a Win-Win for us.

This article will share the lessons that I learned during the first 100 days in the world of cryptocurrency.
