തീയതി:

Kroger Gaming held the start of their yearly Super Smash Bros. Ultimate invitational, inviting ten of the best players in the world to compete against each other. The event was presented by Kroger and organized by Luminosity Gaming.

The list of players included:

  • Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez
  • ജുവാൻ "ഹംഗ്രിബോക്സ്" ഡെബിഡ്മ
  • Paris “Light” Ramirez Garcia
  • Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey
  • Michael “Riddles” Kim
  • Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby
  • Enrique “Maister” Hernandez
  • Carlos “Sonix” Perez
  • Ethan “SHADIC” Miguel
  • Tyler “Marss” Martin

The players were split into two pools, each playing four sets against each other. Only one player won all four sets, Sonix. Unfortunately, Marss and Hungrybox lost all four sets, leading to an early elimination in the tournament and thus commencing the top 8 bracket.

The players with a positive win record would start on the winner’s side of the bracket. Those who did not would start on the loser’s side of it.

മികച്ച 8:

The next to fall would be MkLeo, who is often regarded as the best smash ultimate player of all time. MkLeo would face off against Riddles who was playing out of his mind against MkLeo. Although there were moments of signs of life for MkLeo, it would not be enough as Riddles would close out the set 3-0 and kick MkLeo out of the tournament.

The next set was between Tweek and Maister. Maister started the set dominant as he would three stock Tweek in the first two games. However, against all the doubt about the Sephiroth pick, Tweek managed a surprising but dominant performance in game two, taking the set to game four. Unfortunately, it was not enough as Maister would snuff out Tweek’s comeback and close out the set. Eliminating Tweek from the tournament.

Winners Semi-Final:

After the first two sets on the loser’s side. The tournament now kicked off on the winner’s side, starting with SHADIC vs. Light. Shadic put up a good fight against Light, but Light would take the first game in the set. However, SHADIC would fire right back as he would close out a close game two. From there, SHADIC turned up the volume as he quickly was closing Light’s stocks with each juggle and kill confirm. Game four was closer as the game was a last-stock situation but SHADIC caught a clean side special to confirm Light’s last stock, closing the set.

Our second match, Sonix vs. Dabuz began a tad slower, feeling out each other’s playstyle and trying to gather data. Sonix would take game one, however. Dabuz would swap Rosalina and Luma for Olimar. However, it did not make a difference to Sonix as he cleanly closed out game two. Game three was more or less the same, except Sonix would SD three times in one game, giving Dabuz the game for free. Unfortunately for Dabuz, there would be no SDs for Sonix in game four and although it was a close game, Sonix closed out game 4, sending Dabuz to losers and moving on to winners finals.

Losers Quarter-finals:

Maister vs. Light. Maister started with his first stock lost to Light’s fox but quickly found himself lapping Light in stock and percentage as the set started. But light came back to even the stocks, leaving it a last-stock situation. After an up-smash that should have landed on Maister, Maister closed out game 1 with an f-tilt on the ledge. Game 2 however was all Maister as he quickly made work of Light’s stocks, going up 2-0 in the set. Game 3 seemed like Maister was going to three-stock Light but a small comeback put Light in a last-stock situation again, however, he had too much percentage to close out the game. Maister closes out game 3 and moves on to the loser’s semi-finals.

Riddles vs. Dabuz. Game 1 was just Dabuz doing his thing with Rosalina and Luma, poking Riddles until he makes a mistake and closing out clean stocks to go up 1-0. Game 2 saw Riddles swap from Terry to Kazuya. Although Kazuya is terrifying to play against, Dabuz dealt with Kazuya perfectly, sneaking hits with Luma, keeping his distance and not getting juggled to death, which gave Dabuz the win in game 2. Game 3, Riddles swaps back to Terry, unfortunately, it would not be enough as game 3 was all Dabuz. Moving on to Loser’s Semi-finals vs Maister.

Winners Final:

The winner side kicks off with SHADIC vs. Sonix. In game 1, Sonix was dominant but SHADIC also kept up with damage in combos, but an unfortunate SD would give Sonix game 1. Despite Sonix giving up two of his stocks, he still won game 2. Game 3 was the longest game of the set but would ultimately go to Sonix. Sending SHADIC to the Loser’s final to face off against the winner of Maister vs. Dabuz

Losers Semi-finals:

Game 1 saw Maister locking in Cloud. Unusual for the Game and Watch player. While Dabuz locked in the usual Rosalina and Luma. Although Maister’s Cloud gave a better performance than anticipated, Dabuz closed out game 1. Game 2 saw Maister right back on the Game and Watch, Maister went up early in the game but Dabuz was determined to clutch out game 2 but just couldn’t.

Game 3 was well-fought between both competitors but it would be Dabuz getting game 3 on the board and set point. An even harder-fought game 4 saw both fighters in a last-stock scenario, but a demonstration of Dabuz’s mastery of Rosalina and Luma saw him clutching out game 4 with a clean kill confirmation.

Losers Final:

Dabuz vs. SHADIC. In game 1, Dabuz played his game of poking and gathering information on his opponent. However, it almost led to a time-out and was closer than Dabuz would have liked but eventually got the win in game 1. Game 2 was different, as SHADIC came swinging out the gate and closed out game 2 against Dabuz.

SHADIC took game 3 as well, leaving him at set point. However, Dabuz is determined for this loser’s run and puts the set to game 5. Do or die for both players. After what seemed like an eternity for both players, SHADIC trapped Dabuz in the classic Corrin f-smash which locked him in for the Grand Finals vs Sonix.

ഗ്രാൻഡ് ഫൈനൽ:

For SHADIC to win the tournament, he has to beat Sonix two sets in a row. This is the third time that SHADIC faced Sonix in this tournament, and SHADIC lost both times before. SHADIC is hoping that the third time is the charm

A close game 1 puts Sonix up 1-0. SHADIC, however, hung in there to take game 2. Game 3 was close but unfortunately for SHADIC it went to time and he had the lower percentage meaning that the game goes to Sonix. Sonix is now one game away from taking home the trophy. But SHADIC didn’t make it easy as he two-stocked Sonix in game 4, pushing the set to game 5.

In a similar fashion to game 3, SHADIC almost took it to time except he was up in percentage and found a hit to close out game 5 and reset the bracket. Now whoever wins this next set wins it all.

True Finals:

Sonix tried to time out SHADIC but the patience was there and SHADIC found hit after hit to close out game 1. Game 2 was no different as SHADIC kept up the momentum and found Sonix in shambles. He was landing a clean neutral special in the air to close out game 2. Game 3 is now do or die for Sonix as SHADIC only needs one game to make the comeback he wanted.

അവൻ ചെയ്തു.

SHADIC played to Sonix’s tune perfectly and found a random f-smash to close out game 3. Closing out the tournament and getting the $10,000 prize pool. SHADIC may now be regarded as one of the best American Smash Bros. players out there.
