The Paris Eternal have headed west and now reside in the small town of Las Vegas, Nevada. The location change as revealed to Overwatch League fans late last year. The transition from a primarily European team to a primarily American team gave fans around the league the impression that this would be the foundation of the new Vegas Eternal. Then on Wednesday December 28, everyone’s suspicions were confirmed. The Vegas Eternal announced the re-signing of Jesse “Dove” Palomo, Josh “MaltheL” Gonzales, Kyle “Rakattack” Rakauskas and Luke “Lukemino” Fish. Joining them is former New York Excelsior tank Jack “Vulcan” McArthur.
The Vegas Eternal enter the 2023 season with plenty of question marks around the roster. The core of the roster failed to win match in 2022. Though the players came painfully close to breaking the losing streak, they ultimately failed to secure a victory. A new season brings new hope however, and in a year that has teams looking vastly different, the pre-built synergy of the Eternal roster could be a massive boon in favor of Vegas.

MaltheL and Dove return as the DPS duo that proved they could create those pop off performances that teams need in order to clutch out fights. Another season in the league should allow these players take the next step and serve as the catalyst for the Eternal.
The support line of Rakattack and Lukemino were a bit more quiet than their DPS counterparts last season. All things considered it is tough to have big highlight-reel plays at the support position, but the Eternal back line will need to find a way to be difference makers in those close matches.
Vulcan is a bit of an unknown commodity in the Overwatch League space. While he was technically signed to the New York Excelsior in 2022, he was not really with the team and never saw play time with the org. Vulcan was a impressive tank in Contenders, and has previously worked with Vegas’ new coach Empress. 2023 will be the year fans finally get to see Vulcan on the big stage.
