Michael Jordan’s Solana HEIR NFT just got launched today which was inspired by the NBA legend’s career and will serve as an access pass to the Web3 as we can see further in today’s cryptocurrency news.
HEIR is a Solana-based fan engagement platform launched by Michael Jordan and his son Jeffrey and the 10,010 NFTs are sold for 2.3 SOL apiece or about $221. NBA legend Michael Jordan’s Solana HEIR makes move into Web3 including the announcement of HEIR launching the first NFT collection to bring founding users into the platform.
HEIR’s NFT is inspired by Jordan’s career as he won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s and the startup sold about 5005 total Solana NFT at a price of 2.3 SOL as an homage to the jersey number via the Magic Eden marketplace. The company planned to sell 10,010 NFTs that announced it will reduce the planned supply ban by half due to slower sales with the project sold out to the reduced supply soon after.
Every 6 rings NFT designate the holder as a founding fan to provide access to the upcoming platform which connects athletes and fans in Huddles or communities which allow a limited number of users. The members will get access to exclusive content from each athlete and ask-me-anything sessions and more. The company has to reveal which athletes will be featured on the Solana platform but in a Twitter Space and the team suggested the NBA legend and current players will be involved and the official Discord server further notes which players from the high school level up to professionals.
HEIR was revealed in December as a collab between Michael Jordan and son Jeffrey Jordan with Jeffrey being listed as a co-founder for the fan engagement platform with Jaron Smith and Daniel George. The company raised $10M in seed funding round y Thrive Capital alongside Bulls star Lonzo Ball, Solana Ventures, and Reddit co-founder. Jeffrey Jordan also said that the company will offer further opportunities to onboard users beyond the initial NFT drop for founding fans like NFTs that can act as access passes to the specific athlete’s hurdles:
“We’ll be exploring many ways to thoughtfully bring fans into the community, while always ensuring we are honoring our founding fans in a unique way.”
HEIR co-founder Smith spoke about how the platform will build on Solana versus other platforms like leading the smart contracts and NFT platforms like Ethereum. The lower gas fees and costs were critical:
“We had a chance to work with their executive team and understand their vision for Solana and ultimately, we had alignment on ethos and shared sensibilities. They believe a lot of the same things we believe when it came to the Web3 space”
