Los Angeles Gladiators Sign Marve1

Date:

The Los Angeles Gladiators are making moves to turn their season around during the mid-season break. Last week the Los Angeles Gladiators released long-time OWL standout Dante “Danteh” Cruz following a disappointing split at tank for the Glads. Danteh’s transition from part-time specialist tank to full-time tank was not as successful as LAG would have hoped, and the team has decided to look towards another familiar name to right the ship.

On Saturday June 29, the Los Angeles Gladiators announced the signing of former Seoul Dynasty and Los Angeles Valiant tank Min-seo “Marve1” Hwang. Marve1 spent the first half of the year playing in Korean Contenders with O2 Blast. After rolling over the competition at the Contenders level, Marve1 gains another change to prove himself in the Overwatch League.

Marve1 entered the league back in 2019 with the Seoul Dynasty, where he played just a bit of everything for his team. He was swapped back and forth between main tank and off-tank duties for the Dynasty, and was often a solid piece in a successful Dynasty squad.

In 2022 Marve1 finally moved on from being a Tiger and made his way to the states to play with the Boston Uprising. Sadly in a one-tank environment, Marve1 found only a small sliver of play time in an Uprising locker room with two other tanks. After just a month in Boston Marve1 left the team to head back east. Shortly after his departure from the Uprising, Marve1 joined the Los Angeles Valiant – who were playing in APAC at the time. It was here that Marve1 would take the lion’s share of the play time at tank.

He became a free agent once again after the 2022 season, but couldn’t find a team before the season kicked off. He joined O2 Blast and lead his team to a Spring Stage Knockout bid, where they were able to beat OWL teams before getting knocked out themselves. Marve1 now looks to continue his upward progress as he joins the Los Angeles Gladiators for the remainder of 2023.
