Jensen Huang and Enrique Lores discussed how the newest mobile workstations can speed up and customize generative AI in a fireside chat.
In a casual conversation, the CEOs of HP and NVIDIA now predict that generative AI will become widely available in 2024. They debuted new laptops to develop, test, and run extensive language models.

During the HP Amplify event in Las Vegas, which brought together approximately 1,500 resellers and distributors, Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, praised the new era, referring to it as the “renaissance of personal computing”. He stressed that these new workstations will completely transform how designers, data scientists, and creatives do their jobs.

Nvidia and HP CEOs speak
According to HP CEO Enrique Lores, AI is a game-changing advancement for PCs, who also revealed that HP will launch the broadest range of AI workstations and PCs in the market.
Lores stated in a keynote address that the new systems would offer increased speed and security while reducing costs and energy compared to running their AI work in the cloud.
Several mobile AI workstations powered by NVIDIA RTX Ada Generation GPUs are available with the new HP ZBooks.

Users can run generative AI apps and tools on the go with entry-level systems when paired with the NVIDIA RTX 500 Ada Generation Laptop GPU. Additionally, the high-end models pack the RTX 5000 to deliver up to 682 TOPS. This enables them to create and run LLMs locally, using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to connect to their content for personalised and private results.
The new workstations have access to NVIDIA’s full-stack AI platform, which includes tools for accelerating the data science required for generative AI. The Z by HP AI Studio platform for the systems, created with NVIDIA, has links to NVIDIA NGC, a GPU-accelerated AI and data science applications library. NVIDIA NeMo, a framework for creating, modifying, and implementing generative AI models, is included with NGC.
In addition, HP and NVIDIA announced that NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries will be integrated with the systems to turbocharge the processing and data preparation fundamental for generative AI.
Microsoft’s vision for AI-infused PC
According to Nadella, Microsoft’s PC strategy centres on incorporating Al as a guiding principle and conceiving them as “Copilot PCs” meant to empower users and boost productivity. The CEO was upbeat about the revolutionary potential of Generative Al (GenAl), seeing it as a way to advance information accessibility beyond what is currently possible by putting expertise at users’ fingertips.
“What Al will do is it will put expertise at our fingertips,” Nadella said, evoking a speech from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates in 1993 and highlighting the significant influence Al could have on knowledge accessibility.
Nadella expressed excitement, but caution was advised in the broad adoption of technology, highlighting the significance of responsible diffusion.
He emphasized the need to consider possible repercussions while calling for a responsible social conversation about the development and application of Al, even as he acknowledged the undeniable advantages of innovations like GenAI.
