Veteran running back and Super Bowl champion Leonard Fournette finally has a new team. He is signing with the Buffalo Bills practice squad, but it is unclear when or if he will be elevated to the 53-man roster soon. It is likely he’ll earn a roster spot eventually, however.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Fournette was drafted fourth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was eventually waived by Jacksonville in August of 2020, after they were unable to find a trade. He, then, signed with the Buccaneers, winning the Super Bowl that same season.
In March of 2023, he was release by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and was a free agent until October 30. In 16 games in 2021, he rushed for 668 yards and three touchdowns. He earned the nickname “Playoff Lenny” after rushing for 300 yards and three touchdowns in four games on the way to his Super Bowl championship season.
