LEC Summer 2022 W3D1: Struggling Supports Mersa and Labrov Put Up MVP Performances!

Date:

It seems that our struggling supports within LEC Summer 2022 are starting to find their form, with both Mersa and Labrov putting up big games to clinch wins in W3D1!

MSF vs BDS

Cinkroff’s Volibear could not get enough done early in the face of Misfits’ aggressive scaling comp, and they simply coasted to a dominating victory against Team BDS. Mersa had one of the best games of his young career on Nautilus, being the main catalyst for his team with his heat-seeking hooks that the rest of his team expertly capitalized off of. I was happy to see a good game out of Mersa for once, since the rookie Misfits support has been fairly below average since his debut into the LEC.

Speaking of fairly below average, the once-shining light of BDS has also been looking quite bad in the first few weeks of summer. Cinkroff is starting to play much worse than the previous split, both mechanically and marco-wise, compared to the efficient pathing he was quite famous for previously. I can understand that it is hard to keep your morale up when xMatty is somehow still on the team, but I expected Cinkroff to continue his run of form from last split, especially with NUCLEARINT stepping up some.

MVP: Mersa (1)

VIT vs SK

Vitality defeat a struggling SK Gaming off the back of heroics from Labrov’s Alistar and Haru debuting League’s newest champion Bel’Veth. Between Labrov’s timely engages and Haru’s teamfight resets, SK Gaming did not have much to offer up in terms of resistance. They did not find any early game leads with Lee Sin + Lissandra, and as a result, did not buy enough time for their super scaling bot lane of Karthus and Senna to auto-win them the game late.

Bel’Veth seems like a bit of a cheesy champion, given the Rift Herald interaction as well as the massive heal she gets upon reset. It will be interesting to track Bel’Veth priority throughout the rest of the week given that she is enabled now – will she be an omnipresent force within pick or ban or simply a Haru pocket pick?

MVP: Labrov (1)
