LCO Split 2 2023: Chiefs, Bliss open Split 2 accounts with flawless series

Date:

Our teams are ready to hit the Summoners Rift, fighting for a top-two seed to compete in the PCS playoffs–their chance at Worlds in South Korea. With a brand new best-of-two format, which teams will succeed?

  • Chiefs roll over Vertex in split opener
  • Bliss take over late against DW
  • Games resume Tuesday, June 6 @ 6pm

The new kids on the block went head to head with the reigning LCO champs as The Chiefs and Vertex took to the Rift in last night’s opening match.

The Brisbane org showed no mercy as they took the first Bo2 of the split flawlessly, with BioPanther and Kissee emerging from the series with perfect K/D ratios of their own. Their starting pace set, they’re showing no signs of slowing down on their way to the crown once more.

After the new cubs faced the giants in their first series of the round robin, they’ve gotten their toughest matchup out of the way; the remainder of the stage will give them a chance to find their footing.

The second series saw Team Bliss and the Dire Wolves face off in a Bo2 of their own.

Game one saw a strong start from the Wolfpack’s botlane with some early picks on their laners, but it was soon put to a halt as Bliss emerged victorious in a series of skirmishes. Their new support Akia took the spotlight with his aggressive Thresh hooks, facilitating his ADC in Leemas.

Once Bliss switched on, they took control of the series 2-0 fuelled with vengeance from last split’s second place finish; the roster as a whole was on form, the debut support taking MVP.

While the Dire Wolves had some solid points of contention throughout the series, it wasn’t enough to overcome their rivals this time around. After a first place finish in the last regular split, they’re determined to replicate their result before playoffs.

Tonight, Pentanet.GG and Mammoth’s freshly minted roster will play out the opener, followed by Kanga and Ground Zero Gaming.

We’re covering everything LCO Split 2; streams, schedule, rosters, and more.

LCO Split 2 2023 Schedule & Results

There have been some major changes to the format of the LCO ahead of Split 2 this June. The round-robin stage will be played in best-of-twos as opposed to the former two separate best-of-one matches.

Points will be allocated depending on the results, with three awarded for a victorious flawless series, and one point to each team for a 1-1 outcome. Side selections will be submitted from both teams prior to the beginning of a series.

By the end of the round-robin, the top six teams will move into the next stage.

Rather than seeding into groups, the LCO has opted in favour of a double elimination playoffs bracket to give all teams a fighting chance.

The top two teams in our LCO playoffs will seed respectively for PCS playoffs, where they’ll be competing for a shot at Worlds in South Korea in October.
