JLL taps industry vet to head new life science practice in the Triangle

Date:

RALEIGH – Noting that the Triangle is considered among the nation’s top markets for the life sciences, commercial real estate firm JLL announced it would open a life science practice in the region, and has tapped an industry veteran to lead the office.

Eric Forshee will bring “the right mix of real estate experience and industry expertise to the team,” according to Travis McCready, head of life sciences, JLL Americas Markets.

Forshee, an executive vice president with JLL, will work with clients looking to enter or expand in the Triangle, according to a statement.  That work includes partnering with the company’s other office hubs in Boston, San Diego, and the Bay Area.

“JLL is a national leader in advancing the growth and innovation of the life sciences sector, and there is a tremendous opportunity to build upon the team’s existing efforts and investments in Raleigh-Durham,” said Forshee in a statement.

Building on the Triangle strengths in life science

The Triangle region ranks sixth among an analysis of “cluster markets” for the life science sector conducted by JLL earlier this year, which includes measuring access to talent, funding, and real estate infrastructure.

But one factor that differentiates the Triangle’s life science sector from others is its strength in biomanufacturing, JLL’s report notes.  McCready told WRAL TechWire the same, earlier this year, as a part of a special reporting series, the Future of Work, which was supported by JLL and other WRAL TechWire partners.

“Raleigh-Durham has emerged as a top market for life sciences developments, and, while we’ve been doing work in the sector for some time, we see the introduction of a solidified business line as a huge growth opportunity for the market,” said McCready in a statement this month.

Now, Forshee will be tasked with building on JLL’s existing capabilities in the sector to demonstrate its continued investment, according to a statement.  Forshee was formerly a senior vice president at Colliers, where he specialized in landlord representation of office and life science buildings, according to JLL.
