Verse transferred up to Florida State from the FCS level and proved his worth. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As an unranked prospect in the class of 2019, Verse signed with Albany. He redshirted his first season then played two for the Great Danes. Following the 2021 season, Verse transferred to Florida State. He immediately made an impact in 2022 for the Seminoles with 48 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss and nine sacks. His play aided the Seminoles in going 10-3 on the year. He could’ve turned pro, but returned to Florida State and impressed again. Verse totaled 41 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks. He helped the Seminoles go undefeated during the regular season, before the team lost in the Orange Bowl.

Following the undefeated regular season, Verse declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first-round pick.

Jared Verse Strengths

Verse has a good build for a pass rusher at the NFL level. He is 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds. His frame is pretty well filled out already, making him ready for the NFL level. He will need to continue to add strength, but he is already ahead of where other prospects are regarding building their bodies.

His athleticism gives him a huge advantage in a few areas. He gets a good jump at the snap of the ball and that quick first step puts him ahead of other players on the line of scrimmage. Verse has good speed and has the flexibility to bend around the edge. He can also move laterally, as he is very agile.

He has good strength, which comes from how his body is built, but also by how he keeps his leverage. Verse can shed blocks in the running game, but also uses his strength well to bullrush opposing tackles. His strength will hold up well at the NFL level.

Jared Verse Weaknesses

Verse is solid against the run, but there are things that he could improve. He needs to set the edge better to make sure runs stay inside. Verse can also show better gap integrity, as he has a tendency to take risks to get to the football. Fixing these issues will make him a better team defender.

He has solid size, but his length is just average at best. Offensive linemen can get him in their grasps and then sustain their blocks on him at times. He needs to continue using his hands and fighting through their length to be successful.

There are times when his time to shed can be long. His length comes into play here, but he can find ways to get around that. Whether against the run or the pass, Verse can evade and elude blocks better to go make plays on the ball.
