High-tech job openings in NC jump to 37,000+ – 3rd highest on record

Date:

RALEIGH – High-tech jobs continue to climb in North Carolina despite the growing talk of recession and the impact of inflation as well a supply chain issues.

Open information technology positions climbed in September to 37147 – more than 2,000 higher than the previous month – according to the monthly IT Job Trends Report from the N.C. Technology Association.

The total is the third highest on record as reported by NC TECH over the years compared to 39,474 in May and 37,744 in June.

The number is 13% higher than in September 2021. And NC TECH notes the good news comes contrary to many other economic reports and forecasts.

“September was another month with headlines and data that are often contradictory,” said Andrea Fleming, Director of Talent and Workforce Development at NC TECH, in the September report which was issued Monday. “For example, both North Carolina and US job postings jumped both month-to-month and year-over-year, while major financial institutions warn of job losses and recessions.”
