Heckler mount stands out in Epson MTR Front Row demo

Date:

The Epson stand at InfoComm 2022 featured a Microsoft Teams Rooms Front Row demo that showed that projection can deliver the hybrid working benefits of the new screen layout at a more comfortable price point than other screen options.

But the demo was notable for something more than showing that projection is, in fact, a viable option for MTRs in some organisations when delivered correctly.

The demo also answered the question of where the camera goes as screens increase in size – a question that was raised at a recent AV Magazine panel discussion on Success with Microsoft Teams Rooms at ISE 2022.

As screens increase in size, mounting a camera above or below a large format display can move the camera away from its ideal position at eye level facing the in-room meeting participants.

The Epson demo solved this problem with the use of a Heckler floor stand for short throw projectors, produced at the request of Microsoft, that places the video bar atop an arm that rises up from the stand.

The stand and UST projector are placed between the curved table that is typically used in MTR Front Row demos and the projection screen, such that the video bar is between the screen and table too.

So the camera doesn’t need to sit in a mini-hole at the centre of the projection screen any more than it needs to sit above or below the 21:9 screen as seen in other display options.

The Epson Microsoft Teams Rooms Front Row Demo, which was shown in its own enclosed meeting room space, had the following spec:

  • Epson EB-PU1008B projector
  • Epson ELPLX01S UST lens
  • Da-Lite 138″ HD Progressive .06 UTB contour screen (Part# 23787)
  • Jabra Panacast 50 – BLK, 8200-232
  • Heckler Floor Mount H906-BG
  • Middle Atlantic Forum Arc Table, TLB-ARC-3P-SH-WB
