Stellar Blade ja NiER Automata – miten ne inspiroivat toisiaan

Treffi:

If you have played the Stellar Blade demo, you may have noticed some similarities between Stellar Blade and other famous video game titles such as NiER Automata, and even Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

You would not be wrong in seeing those similarities and even enjoying them, assuming you have enjoyed Sekiro or NiER Automata. But why do the games feel similar? Is it a coincidence? Or perhaps the developers share a deeper connection that can elevate a standard and create a beautiful piece of art.

Haastattelussa IGN Japani, Yoko Taro, the creative director of NiER Automata, flew over to SHIFT UP studios, in Seoul, Korea, to help the Stellar Blade director, Hyung-Tae Kim, uncover what kind of direction and game he wanted to create.

Kim mentioned that he was inspired by 2B, the protagonist of NiER Automata, so from there, he knew he wanted a similar element. A strong female-lead to face the dangers and sadness of a destroyed world.

One of the biggest things people were saying was that Stellar Blade was trying to “copy” NiER. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. People took to online forums to claim that NiER was superior in every way, however, Stellar Blade is not competing with NiER but it is an idea executed by pure inspiration of another creative.

As some NiER fans tried to bash the game, Yoko Taro stated in the interview that he believes Stellar Blade is a great game and even better than NiER Automata. Yoko Taro even regards Kim as his senior because of the work he has released previously.

Yoko Taro believes that Stellar Blade is amazing because of the next-gen graphics and the design of EVE, the protagonist of Stellar Blade.

This interview between Yoko Taro and Hyung-Tae Kim should be inspiring to creatives everywhere. Coming together to discuss similarities, and how they can uplift each other and their crafts. While appreciating the work that developers put into the game inside and out.

The interview covered much more such as the directors ’ roots, when they knew they wanted to take this path, the current gaming industry and takeaways from it.

Fans who enjoyed the Stellar Blade demo and have played NiER Automata previously will be happy to know that Yoko Taro helped Hyung-Tae Kim uncover what direction the game will take. Gamers everywhere should be excited about this major release.

Stellar Blade prepares for it’s release exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 26.
