Fantasy Football Defenses to Stream Week 3

Date:

One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 3. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)

1. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs ranked seventh for fantasy defenses this season as they average seven points per game. They scored three points against he Lions in week 1 and 11 points in week 2 against the Jaguars. Kansas City has notched two fumble recoveries and five sacks on the year.

In week 3, the Chiefs will take on the Chicago Bears. The Bears are scoring just 18.5 points per game. Currently, they have a turnover problem, which benefits the Chiefs. Chicago has problems on their offensive line, their quarterback play isn’t great and their play-calling hasn’t been effective. Kansas City could have a big week. They are rostered in 9.7 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville ranks fifth as a fantasy defense this season, averaging 10 points per game. They scored 13 points in week 1 against the Colts and seven against the Chiefs in week 2. The Jaguars have two interceptions, four fumble recoveries and five sacks so far this season.

In their next game, the Jaguars will take on the Houston Texans. Houston is averaging just 14.5 points per game this season. They are still breaking in a rookie quarterback in C.J. Stroud and have had issues with injuries on their offensive line. Jacksonville has the potential to have a good game in week 2. They are rostered in just 12.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks have the 21st-ranked fantasy defense, which averages four points per game. They scored -2 points in week 1 against the Rams and 10 points in week 2 against the Lions. Seattle has one touchdown, one interception, two fumble recoveries, two sacks and one block this season.

For their week 3 matchup, the Seahawks will play the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers will be coming off a short week after playing the Saints on Monday Night Football. In their only contest so far of the season, the Panthers scored 10 points. Their offensive line showed clear issues and the Seahawks should be able to have a successful day. They are available in over 95 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Detroit Lions

Detroit has the 23rd-ranked fantasy defense at 3.5 points per game. They totaled eight points in week 1 against the Chiefs and -1 points in week 2 against the Seahawks. The defense has created an impact with one touchdown, one interception and one sack this season.

In week 3 the Lions play the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta has scored 24 in each of their first two contests, which isn’t bad. They have struggled to move the ball through the air though, which means that the Lions can stack the box in the game. Detroit is rostered in just 4.4 percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati has the 19th-ranked fantasy defense this season at 4.5 points per game. The Bengals scored six points in week 1 against the Browns and three points in week 2 against the Ravens. They have helped their cause with one touchdown, one interception, one fumble recovery and three sacks.

The Bengals are hosting the Rams in week 3 on Monday Night Football. Los Angeles is scoring 26.5 points per game and is doing so without Cooper Kupp. They’ve found new stars, but with a couple weeks of tape out on their players, the Bengals can accurately gameplan now. The Bengals are rostered in just 22 percent of ESPN leagues.
