Facebook Messenger users have quickly embraced the new AI-generated stickers, but for the wrong reasons that might promote violence, creating a buzz on social media platforms.
While AI has presented an opportunity for people to unleash their creative abilities, the same technology is being abused by malicious individuals to create images that perpetuate hate and violence, like in the case of the Messenger stickers.

Child soldiers
As part of the social media giant’s renewed focus on AI, Meta has rolled out features that enable the generation of stickers that users can share. However, uncouth individuals are creating malicious content using the stickers, a worrisome trend that has invited criticism on social media platforms.
In a post on the X platform, a user identified as Poldes highlighted the AI feature that can be manipulated to create images of child soldiers.
This is in addition to images of Justin Trudeau, the Canadian president, with some of his body parts exposed.
“Found out that Facebook Messenger has AI-generated stickers now, and I don’t think anyone involved in this thought anything through,” wrote Poldes.
He added that this was all Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg’s fault.
Poldes went on to reveal that he created images of Mickey Mouse using the toilet, Sonic the Hedgehog, and variations of the Pope.
Several other stickers show Karl Max, but in a woman’s body. Responding to Polde’s post, some users feel this is “incredible,” while others think it is “amazing” with fewer restrictions.
“This is exactly how it is supposed to be. I can’t believe I’m applauding Meta now,” responded another user identified as Marko.
“If I want to generate a child soldier or Trudeau’s buttocks as stickers, who are you to judge me or tell me I can and cannot do?”

No guns but riffles
In another case, there are images of Waluigi holding a gun, while Gordie McGrath, a TikTok user, has been toying with the tool and creating images of a dog holding a machete together with others featuring celebrities.
McGrath says he realized that Facebook Messenger will create a host of stickers, including those of Taylor Swift and a “voluptuous girl,” but will not create images with guns. However, the term rifle is acceptable.
Further checks by McGrath also revealed that the app will not create stickers for the current Prime Minister of Australia yet, but “it could create a ‘bootleg’ Bart Simpson.”
Facebook’s parent company, Meta, has revealed its ambitions to increase focus on AI this year and has released its LLM, known as Lama 2. Implementation of the AI initiative includes chatbots with the personalities of celebrities like Snoop Dog and Abraham Lincoln.
