Earlier, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted a Twitter poll asking his 54 million followers whether Tesla should accept Dogecoin for payments or not. The poll received 78.2% in favor of Tesla accepting Dogecoin for payments while 21.8% against it. Many are speculating that this poll hints that Tesla could also start accepting the mem-based cryptocurrency Dogecoin as payment for its cars.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has tweeted about the meme-based cryptocurrency many times in the past jokingly. Elon Musk has been one of the main proponents of cryptocurrency in the corporate arena. Tesla is already accepting bitcoin as payment for its cars directly on its website. Still, Dogecoin is a relatively unstable currency in terms of price compared to the former, and if the company indeed receives it, it’s unclear if it would be sold for fiat money. Elon Musk’s tweets previously have affected Dogecoin’s price positively. This tweet about Tesla possibly accepting Dogecoin could create a frenzy among crypto enthusiasts. 

Elon Musk calls Dogecoin a ‘hustle’ on SNL. 

Elon Musk hosting the Saturday Night Live last weekend was the talk of the town, and many had expected the tech billionaire to mention DOGE in on the sketches, which he did. In the Weekend Update section of the show, Elon Musk called Dogecoin a ‘hustle.’ Contrary to people’s expectations, the price of Dogecoin plunged after Elon’s appearance on the SNL. Earlier this year, Tesla bought $1.5 billion in bitcoin last February and has already made over $1 billion in profits from its crypto holdings.
