In 2024, the IQT the Hague conference is set to host a notable figure in the quantum world: Stephanie Wehner, the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Professor in quantum information at Delft University of Technology and the director of the European Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA). Wehner’s illustrious career is dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of quantum mechanics to build advanced networks and computers.

Wehner’s work focuses on the unique properties of quantum bits (qubits), which differ fundamentally from classical bits and enable solving tasks that are impossible for classical devices. Her extensive research in quantum cryptography and communication is pivotal in the quest to establish a large-scale quantum network, a goal she pursues passionately with QIA.

A member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences and a recipient of the prestigious KNAW Ammodo award, Wehner is also one of the founders of QCRYPT, the largest conference in quantum cryptography. Numerous scientific articles in physics and computer science mark her contributions to the field.

Wehner’s academic journey includes significant roles across the globe. From 2010 to 2014, she led a research group at the Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore, holding positions as Assistant and later Associate Professor. Before that, she was a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology in John Preskill’s group.

Interestingly, Wehner’s diverse background includes experience as a professional hacker in the industry, showcasing her wide range of skills and unconventional problem-solving approaches in the quantum realm.

At the Inside Quantum Technology conference, Wehner is expected to share her insights into the development of quantum networks and computers, drawing on her rich experience in quantum mechanics and her work at QIA. Her session is anticipated to cover the challenges and breakthroughs in quantum cryptography and communication, along with her vision for a quantum-connected future.

Stephanie Wehner’s participation is not just a highlight of the conference but also an inspiration, showcasing the impactful role of women in leading and shaping the future of quantum technology. Her unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience promises to offer attendees a comprehensive understanding of the quantum landscape and its vast potential.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40 panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
