Key reporting milestones:

1. BitPinas was the first to reveal the SEC’s intentions to collaborate with government agencies to restrict access to unregistered exchanges.
2. We are among the first to post about the advisory on Binance, but notably the first to cover about the consideration to employ banning it at the IP level.
3. BitPinas led the initiative in collecting community reactions to the story, presenting a balanced view by highlighting both supporters and opponents of the ban. We tried to get some comments not just from the SEC and Binance but also from the NTC and Google as well.
4. Our coverage was the first to detail the expected timeline for these measures to be implemented.
5. Importantly, we consistently reminded our readers that the SEC has not dismissed the possibility of extending the ban, ensuring this crucial detail remained a fixture in our reporting. This was reflected in our final article, where the SEC spokesperson mentioned about exploring the potential ramifications of a blocking.
6. We have been bashed as well a lot for choosing to follow this story. And even when the outcome becomes favorable to the bashers, somehow they still find other things to say. So we figured we’re going to get bashed either way so let’s just do it.

On the last three days before March 1, BitPinas has been receiving multiple comments and messages asking on whether the ban will happen. Obviously, the ban did not take place, reflected in the mood during the BitPinas webcast:

For now, the status quo remains: Binance remains accessible in the Philippines, it is still unlicensed, and the ban did not happen.
