The LCS has gone through a lot of changes for the 2023 season. The format is the same but the times and dates have changed which has carried over to the Summer. Along with this, the players have decided to effectively strike. This preview will look at the team as it is originally intended to be. 2023 Spring Review
It was a rough Worlds 2022 for Cloud 9. They came into 2023 with Jensen being kicked off again and being replaced with Diplex. Everyone else stayed but there were plenty of people questioning how good they might be. While Diplex didn’t look bad, the team still decided after a strong start to go with EMENES and that is when the best form of C9 came out to play.
Cloud9 would go on to win yet another LCS championship after going 14-4 and finishing in first place. This would lead them to MSI 2023 where they would be knocked out by Gen.G. The team yet again struggled internationally as they went 0-6 against every team not named Golden Guardians. It was an unfortunate exit but one that many hope will lead to them coming together and playing even better for a chance at Worlds 2023 redemption.
2023 Summer Split Roster
Top- Fudge
Jng- Blaber
Mid- EMENES
Bot- Berserker
Sup- Zven
The LCS Championship roster returns for the Summer, which should come as a surprise to no one. Fudge has started off the last few Split on fire but cooled off significantly before playoffs. Look for him to try and find a bit more consistency throughout the rest of the year. Blaber is coming off his best individual performance internationally and should be seen as the best jungler and potentially the best player in the LCS. EMENES continues to learn and should only be fitting it better as the summer goes on, which should terrify the rest of the league. Then there is Berserker and his duo, Zven. These two will likely be the best bot lane in the LCS or at least very close. With the way the meta is shaping up, look for Berseker to potentially have his best Split to date.
Predicted Spring Placement: 1st
Potential Range for the Team: 1st – 3rd
If anyone is doubting this team then they haven’t been watching the LCS for some time. While there will be teams that challenge them, Cloud9 are certainly the strongest team heading into the Summer season. Frankly, there just are not many questions about them.
Some could be whether EMENES regresses or if Blaber starts to consistently make odd decisions again. But even those feel like stretches with how well this team has performed domestically.
Look for Cloud9 to maybe have a rough patch during the middle of the season but overall, they will be strong and should be fighting for first throughout the Summer.
