If you were to mention “France” in a conversation regarding Call of Duty esports, people would think you are crazy or delusional. Now, after the rise of the French Phenom, now World Champion and former MVP of the league, Hyrda, it isn’t so delusional of a statement. In this edition of CDL Profiles, we take a look into another talented French superstar Thomas “Lynz” Gregorio.
In the early years, Thomas Gregorio, better known as Lynz, did not actually realize the potential of becoming a professional in esports. That was until he started playing Call of Duty.
His first official record of playing Call of Duty as an esports was in the later stages of the Black Ops 4 season. However, his journey started way before at the age of just 13 during the Infinite Warfare and WW2 season as he played in Amateur European tournaments in those respected games.
Black Ops 4 and Modern Warfare (2018-2020)
Blacks Ops 4 is where Lynz got his first official record of playing in a tournament where he placed top 8 at SFCO European Tournament alongside friends Cayni, Modjo, Wizy, and Zaikoo at the age of 14. It was not until July of 2020 that he placed top 3 at the EEG European League 2020 Season 3 Championship Playoffs. This was after a year-long season in the European Esports League where he played at a high level just at the age of 16.
Cold War and Vanguard (2021-2022)
This was the year that Lynz broke into the Call of Duty season. He signed with a European powerhouse of an Amateur team in ClutchRayn Esports. This is where he played with SLG, Twizz, NSFin, Vrizix, Naddox, and Dxsable.
It was during this season that Lynz got his first taste of the Challengers division of the Call of Duty League. In this season, he got his name known by placing at least Top 32 in 11 different challenger opens playing for Clutch and King Esports alongside a French Call of Duty legend in Depaa.
After just two kickoff SnD tourneys, Lynz decided to take a break from Call of Duty esports.
Modern Warfare 2 (2022-2023)
After returning for a couple of tournaments at the start of the season, he got noticed by Awobabobs Esports. This is where he caught the eye of Brehzy, Abuzah, and Cobra.
He really broke onto the scene by getting 4 wins in the season with two major victories in the Stage 2 Challenger Playoffs and the CDC Toronto Open.
During the entire season, he posted over a 1 K/D in nearly every Challenger tournament getting at least Top 16 in all 22 Challenger tournaments he and his team competed in.
Present Day
Shortly after the MW2 season, he and his teammate, Abuzah, both got an equal amount of attention from many Call of Duty teams.
It was not until August of this year that Lynz got linked to the Minnesota Rokkr.
Officially, he is now on the Minnesota Rokkr alongside Accuracy, Vivid, and Owakening. Will he face obstacles along the way or will we see yet another French Phenom enter the Call of Duty esports scene?
