Can Musk Shake Up Sun Valley?

Date:

You have to love a jam-packed summer news day. The maestro behind Masayoshi Son’s tech investing—Rajeev Misra—is leaving SoftBank’s Vision Fund. This is a big deal. Misra is notorious for his rough-and-tumble tactics, including allegedly trying to oust his own colleague. His departure basically completes the exodus there. What will Masa do? It’s unclear, but this has been a long time coming, so we bet Masa has a plan. Stay tuned.

And then there is Elon Musk. Today, there was yet another leak that his acquisition of Twitter is “in jeopardy” due to the bot problem. Ah, the bot problem. Honestly, there isn’t really much more to say about this other than Musk has a binding agreement to buy the company. This whole song and dance about the bots doesn’t change that.

But I am looking forward to Saturday morning, when investor and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will interview Musk at Allen & Co.’s Sun Valley Conference, I am told. Altman is, of course, a friend and business partner (somewhat) of Musk. I suspect it will be interesting for the folks still around the weeklong conference to tune in.
