Bralen Trice Background

Size: 6-foot-4, 274 pounds
Class: Redshirt Senior
2023 stats: 49 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 2 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery
Trice took a while to develop, but once he did, he became an impact player for Washington. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.
As a four-star recruit in the class of 2019, Trice left the state of Arizona to sign with the Huskies. He redshirted in his first year on campus and did not see any action in 2020. Trice was a rotational player, but did start two games in 2021, registering 14 total tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks. He stepped into the starting lineup in 2022 with 38 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and nine sacks. His play helped the Huskies go 11-2 on the season. Trice returned in 2023 and was productive again with 49 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He led the team to a 14-1 record and an appearance in the National Championship Game.
Following the National Championship Game, Trice declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first or second-round pick.
Bralen Trice Strengths
For an NFL edge rushers, Trice has great size. He was listed at 6-foot-4 and 274 pounds, which is about the max amount of weight wanted for his frame. With that comes good strength, which he uses to shed and bullrush. He also has what looks like solid length, which he uses to disengage blocks.
Trice has strong and active hands, which he uses to pull off a few different pass rush moves. He has a chop, rip and a swim move that all were decently effective. Trice has a solid pass rush plan going into a snap and executes it well. He also has some counters to build on at the NFL level.
He is a solid run defender for an edge rusher. Trice diagnoses plays well and then sheds his blocks well. He takes good angles to the ball and shows good pursuit. Trice can set the edge and maintains good gap integrity.
Bralen Trice Weaknesses
Trice could’ve had more production, but he needs to close out plays better. He would have the quarterback or ball carrier within his grasp, but couldn’t complete the play. More focus on form tackling will help him get some of the production that he lost.
He is an average athlete for the position. Trice doesn’t have the speed or the ability to bend around the edge like other athletes in the class. He wins because of his physicality and moves. This makes him a candidate to rush from the interior at the NFL level, but it might be hard for him to be effective on the edge on pass-rushing downs.
Trice doesn’t have the quickest first step at the snap of the ball. Some of that is due to a lack of quickness, but he can also do a better job of timing up the snap. Getting a better head start on the play will make him a more effective player.
