Despite this, some analysts have attempted to forecast the future value of Bitcoin, with wildly varying estimates ranging from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands.

With such a wide range of projections, it’s impossible to know for sure what the price of Bitcoin will be in four years’ time. As such, many people view the future price of Bitcoin as something strange and unpredictable.

At the start of 2023, the Bitcoin price had dropped by 65%.The drop has  lead many to believe it was inextricably linked to the performance of growth stocks and highly susceptible to rising interest rates.

However, only two months later, with central bankers still raising rates to manage inflation, Bitcoin has proven surprisingly resilient.

According to Bloomberg’s figures (using yesterday’s slightly higher Bitcoin price), the 40-day correlation between Bitcoin and the S&P 500 Index (SP: .INX) has dropped below 0.3, a level not seen since 2021 – significantly lower than a correlation of 1 which would signify an exact parallel between the two assets.

Crypto research company Kaiko have commented that crypto markets are becoming increasingly independent from traditional assets in 2023; retail investors being a major driver in this decoupling due to large corporate entities having pulled out following several token meltdowns and exchange collapses in 2022.
