Binance partners with legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to launch NFT collections

Date:

Crypto exchange giant Binance recently announced that it has joined hands with legendary Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to create and promote the non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Binance signs multi-year deal with Cristiano Ronaldo

As per the announcement made by the exchange, the football star, also known as GOAT (Greatest of All-Time), and Binance have signed a multi-year deal that aims to create a series of NFT collections for sale on the exchange’s NFT platform. It also revealed that the first collection would be launched later in 2022. The release stated:

“Through this partnership, Binance will launch a global promotion aiming to give Cristiano Ronaldo’s fans an introduction to Web3 with a compelling entry point into the world of NFTs.”

Ronaldo promised to give people the chance to own an iconic piece of sports history by promoting his own personal NFT collection on Twitter. The Cristiano Ronaldo NFT collections would be exclusively listed on Binance NFT.

Football and digital asset industry

Football has a deep connection with the digital asset industry. Several crypto companies have been relying on partnerships with Football clubs and players in a bid to go mainstream. While cryptocurrency firm FTX Trading Ltd sold a stake to National Football League star Tom Brady, Crypto.com signed a $700 million contract to rename the Los Angeles Staples Center as the Crypto.com Arena in 2021.

Moreover, in May this year, the famous German football media application OneFootball raised $300 million in a Series D funding round intending to make a solid entry in Web3 and metaverse space.
