Southeast Asian venture capital firm Golden Gate Ventures announced the promotion of Angela Toy to Chief Operating Officer (COO), according to TechNode Global.
Angela Toy, previously a Partner focused on Portfolio Growth at Golden Gate Ventures, steps into the newly created role with a decade of exceptional service and strategic foresight at the company.
Since joining as the second employee in 2011, Toy has been instrumental in the firm’s development, culminating in her promotion to partner in mid-2021.
Her appointment as COO marks a continuation of her leadership journey, now with a broader mandate to oversee operational excellence and support the firm’s strategic expansion efforts.

Toy’s promotion comes at a time when Golden Gate Ventures is actively extending its global footprint. The firm recently initiated operations in Vietnam and Saudi Arabia, tapping into the burgeoning startup ecosystems there, and established a New York office to facilitate fundraising efforts for its portfolio companies.

Since its inception in 2011, Golden Gate Ventures has made investments in over 90 companies, including nine unicorns and two initial public offerings (IPOs), the firm has been a key proponent of nurturing startup ecosystems. Its notable investments include industry leaders like Carro, Coda Payments, and Xendit, among others.
