5 Potential Landing Spots for Robert Woods

Date:

On Wednesday the Tennessee Titans released wide receiver Robert Woods making him a free agent. Here are five potential landing spots for Robert Woods.

1. Baltimore Ravens

For years now the Ravens have needed help at the wide receiver position. Rashod Bateman will be returning from injury, but more is needed at the position after the team traded Marquise Brown to the Cardinals for the 2022 season. Lamar Jackson needs to be re-signed, but if he is, adding Woods could help the Ravens’ title hopes.

Woods may prefer to play for a contender at this point of his career. If Jackson returns, Woods could provide a reliable receiver option that he has not had in his whole career. New offensive coordinator Todd Monken will likely be looking to add wide receivers this offseason and getting a veteran like Woods would really help.

2. New England Patriots

Like the Ravens, the Patriots have neglected the wide receiver position for way too long. Their offense has struggled as a result. With two young quarterbacks on the roster that need development, it would benefit them to look at adding Woods with all of his experience.

The Patriots may not be the best title contender, but they clearly have a need for a receiver. Woods could be enticed by the opportunity for more targets while the Patriots rebuild their receiving room. He could also be convinced to sign by Bill Belichick, who might just be a few pieces away from getting back to the playoffs.

3. Buffalo Bills

The team that drafted Woods may be back in the market for him. Buffalo has fallen short of making a Super Bowl and need to do whatever it takes to get there while Josh Allen is in his prime. Stefon Diggs is a good receiver, but behind him there weren’t many consistent options, as Gabe Davis had some productive games and some bad ones.

Woods being able to play in the slot or on the outside gives the Bills some flexibility moving forward. Diggs can still be a superstar, but when things break down, Woods can be a reliable weapon. Davis may also improve with extra attention going to Woods and Diggs. The Bills should be aggressive in pursuing Woods.

4. Green Bay Packers

Green Bay will be awaiting to see what Aaron Rodgers wants to do with his future before making any major moves. If he returns, adding receivers will be on the agenda. They drafted a few productive players in Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, but they were far from consistent as rookies. Allen Lazard is leaving in free agency, while Randall Cobb is not the receiver he once was.

If Rodgers returns, getting a reliable veteran could appease him and make the Packers bigger threats in the NFC North. Woods may lack the playmaking of the young receivers in the room, but his experience is something that should be valued. Getting Woods and having him on the same page as Rodgers improves the Packers.

5. New York Giants

The Giants are trying to figure out the contracts of both Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. They have spent a lot of draft capital on the receiver position, but Kadarius Toney was moved to the Chiefs, while Wan’Dale Robinson was injured for a lot of his rookie season. Adding to their offense could really increase their chances of advancing further in the playoffs.

Woods can bring some experience to the receiving room and quality at the same time. Jones will benefit from having a reliable veteran receiver on the offense if he is brought back. If the Giants bring back Jones and Barkley then sign Woods, they could take a step forward in Brian Daboll’s second season.
