The 2022 NFL Draft is over, giving a clearer picture of rosters for the 2022 season. With that fantasy football rankings can be released. Here are the 2022 fantasy football defense rankings. (Note: These are best used for standard-scoring leagues and will be updated until the season starts)

1. Buffalo Bills

The Bills ranked fourth as a defense last season. What could propel them to the top of the list is the fact that Tre White will be back healthy and the team drafted Kaiir Elam in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay was a top-five defense in 2021 and could replicate that success. They had plenty of injuries in the secondary and with those players now healthy, the Bucs can do better in 2022.

3. Indianapolis Colts

In 2021, the Colts ranked seventh and had a good defense. They have now added Stephon Gilmore to the mix and can finish in the top five.

4. Denver Broncos

Denver is another defense that suffered injuries last season and didn’t play to their potential. Bradley Chubb and Randy Gregory should make a good pass-rushing duo this season.

5. New England Patriots

After ranking second for defenses last season, the Patriots are on pace to do similarly. The defense is always more than the sum of its parts and that trend will continue.

6. Los Angeles Rams

Although they ranked 12th last season, it is hard to deny the Rams’ star power. They’ve added Bobby Wagner and more depth to their secondary to defend their Super Bowl.

7. New Orleans Saints

The Saints’ defense was fifth in fantasy points last season. Their offense should be better this season with Jameis Winston healthy, which should help the defense not be put in bad positions.

8. Dallas Cowboys

Dallas ranked first last season, but it is unlikely they are able to do it again. They were reliant on turnovers too much, which may not come this season.

9. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins have the best corner tandem in the NFL and it has paid off for them. Although Brian Flores is gone, they should be able to recoup some of their value from ranking third in 2021.

10. San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco ranked 14th in 2021 and has a lot of talent returning on all three levels of the defense.

11. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers showed they were going all-in by acquiring Khalil Mack in the offseason. They’ll need to show they can stop the run, but the Chargers should be much improved.

12. Green Bay Packers

In 2021, the Packers ranked 15th for defenses. With the selections of Devonte Wyatt and Quay Walker they should improve this season.

13. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs ranked in the top 10 last season, but they have to deal with the loss of Tyrann Mathieu.

14. Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh ranked 16th last season and should finish in around the same range in 2022 after replacing Joe Haden with Levi Wallace.

15. Cleveland Browns

Over the last few seasons, the Browns have really improved their defense. Although Jadveon Clowney may be leaving in free agency, they have enough talent to rank in the top 15.

16. Arizona Cardinals

Chandler Jones left the Cardinals and the secondary still has some holes in it, which means it will be tough for the team to finish in the top 10 again.

17. Baltimore Ravens

Being healthy will really help the Ravens’ defense in 2022. They ranked 26th last year with injuries and should improve by a decent margin.

18. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals ranked 18th last year and with a tougher schedule and not many immediate improvements to the defense, they should finish around the same spot.

19. Tennessee Titans

Tennesee improved a lot last season to finish 11th. They likely will have a tough time reaching that again in 2022.

20. Carolina Panthers

Carolina’s defense has been hurt by their offense not moving the ball. They will also get Jaycee Horn back from injury to help improve things.

26. New York Giants

27. Las Vegas Raiders
